QuikVue Vet Case Share-episclerokeratitis

07/07/25

We are glad to share a vet case study captured by QuikVue eye imaging adaptor from Dr. Allison Fuchs.

Progress update! This is Rosy, a beautiful Airedale terrier that I showed you about a month ago. Rosy has an immune mediated ocular surface disease called episclerokeratitis, which causes inflammation in the white part of the eye (sclera) and the cornea. She was very severely affected when she first came to see me, but responded rapidly to topical immunosuppressants (steroids and tacrolimus drops). There was a big difference in just 10 days as you can see between the first and second photo! Now Rosy returned for her 1 month progress examination, and look at that! All the blood vessels on the cornea are gone and she looks amazing. She is completely off the topical steroid drops, and we’ll see if we can maintain her with just the Tacrolimus. She will require some monitoring and these patients can have flare-ups that mean increases in medication, but most can be controlled on a pretty low level which is great.
